After yesterday's post, I started thinking along the lines of music and how much of it affects our lives. They are mood lifters and makes us reminisce about certain times of our lives. I know whenever I hear a certain song, it draws me back in time; some good times, some not so good.
Take the 80's. LOL. Lots of cool songs from the big hair days. Whenever I hear She Drives Me Crazy, I laugh. My friend designated that song for my mom during my teen years. When I hear the old Lionel Richie songs, they make me cringe. They remind me of my ex! Yuck. Who wants to be reminded of their ex? Not me, but I bet I'm not alone. Then there are all those songs that remind me of better times -- when I sang in a band, lots of solo performances in concerts or contests -- I can even envision myself on stage. I remember the music when I met my hubby. Those long romantic walks on the beach, listening to the live band playing Hawaiian music wafting through the garden areas. Sigh. What would I do with out music? I'd DIE of course. Just tonight I told my hubby just how much I miss performing. Someday I'm sure there will be an opportunity.
Your challenge should you choose to accept it this week: Think of two songs. One should evoke wonderful memories. The other one should make you remember some hard time you experienced. If you scrapbook, journal about these times. What feelings conjure up when you hear these songs? Write first about the song that makes you sad or unhappy. Then write about the song that makes you happy. Are the beats slower either song? What about the words; can you remember them and write down the lyrics? Even better, find photos from those times and make a page. What if you don't scrapbook? Well, then. Write about it somewhere -- in a journal, a letter (to yourself or someone else). Or just share the experience with your loved one.
Now off you go!

Wow - great idea for the songs. Not sure if you ever watched Ally McBeal when it was on, but they always posed the question, "If you could choose a theme song for your life, what would it be?" I think mine would be "Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting". It just cracks me up - crazy enough to make me laugh, kooky enough to define my life.
