Spring is in the air!

I am so lovin' this mild 50's weather! Who cares if it's raining; at least it's WARMER! My daffodils have all sprouted up and some are almost ready to bloom. I can't believe how quickly Spring is coming! When I lived in Hawaii, there was no defined season; it was just tropical weather all the time. The only time you knew it was winter was when it would rain really hard for days and the surf was up! That's when my co-workers would "encourage" me to go hang out and surf. I myself don't really surf but I do the boogie board and even that is fun in itself. Sigh...I miss those days. Having my coffee and pastry at the beach, watching the sunrise and just chillin'!

Anyway, here's your technique for the week. Find some "scraps" in your studio and put together a card or scrapbook page using whatever you can find. Sometimes as artists we have a hard time using up scraps or just stick to certain colors or items. See if you can step outside your comfort zone and do something unique.

Here's your scrapbook challenge. Since it's Valentine's Day, can you recall a special Valentine's Day that you spent with your honey? The hubby and I almost always celebrate with a dinner alone at some restaurant. I think the most special day was the first Valentine's Day we spent as a married couple. Although I'm really bad at recalling a lot of my memories, I'm glad I have my hubby because he has a memory of an elephant. He can recall every detail of vacations or trips, remember what we both had to eat at special dinners and details of Emma's birth that I can't recall. It's like having your own personal "recorder". So I swear I have to start finding those "older" pictures and journal like crazy -- should anything happen to him I'd be so darn lost! What do you recall -- what memories come flooding back -- do you remember the food you ate, what you wore, what you did you receive as a gift? Even though we are mommies, we should always take time to document what it was like BC (before children!). These pages will be important for your children when you are no longer with them.

As some of you know, I've been working with a client to come up with a creative way to help preserve the memories of people who are dying. Right now that project is being presented for a possible grant opportunity. If it gets an approval for a grant, I'll be teaching volunteers how to help families preserve the happy memories of loved ones! Cross your fingers and toes for me. I'm excited and honored to be able to share my love of scrapbooking in such a special way with others.

Happy Valentine's Day!

JoAnn!!! That is *PHENOMENAL* that you're working on a way to help those that are dying preserve their memories - I can't believe I didn't know about this until now! Oh, how I wish something like that had been in place when Craig's grandfather was still alive. It pains me to think of all the wonderful stories that man had that my children will never know because no one ever took the time/thought to record them. My heart is smiling because of you. You go, girl!
