Challenge of the Week!

Aloha! Okay, I did my challenge last week; did you do yours?! Some of the words I used was honesty. I want my kids to know how honesty is always the best policy! Another thing I want them to know is humility and respect. What about you?

Here's the challenge for the week. Look around your home. Are there things that are in your home that you love? Maybe a certain piece of art, your coffee maker (I LOVE mine) or maybe a certain room? Take a few photos of an object or room in your home and scrapbook it! Sometimes it's the simple things that count.

When you are done, how about a stamping challenge? Find a stamp or stamp set you love and a color scheme that is challenging for you. For instance, I love my pinks and purples and seem to have problems creating with wintery darker colors. Step outside your 'color' box and see if you can create something that's cool with a color that's challenging for you.

It is super cold today so that's why I'm at home creating. My board meeting was cancelled (hooray) tonight due to our wonderful freezing rain. I've brewed a nice pot of coffee, and re-organizing my "stash" and then will start on some projects!

By the way, I did finish my commissioned project and it's being considered by the clients. I may be teaching it and earning some extra money (hint: for more scrapbooking and stamp stuff) soon! I'll keep you posted. It's a unique opportunity that will help so many people preserve their memories. :)

Called my folks last week and the hotel my dad works for is closing for repairs due to the October earthquake. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel has been in business for years and is laying off over 400+ employees indefinitely. They are unsure how long repairs will take. My dad is deciding whether to retire or go with unemployment for awhile. Of course, with mom's health issues, medical insurance is an issue. Keep them in your prayers! Right now he's still working and since he's in the engineering department, it'll be one of the last departments to close. Mom is still traveling 3x a week for dialysis.

Well, it's time to start creating! Try the challenges this week and report back what you created!

Hi "Emma's Mommy"! Check it out - I'm posting a comment!!!!
I love your challenges. I'm looking around my living area trying to decide what my favorite item(s) is/are, and I keep going back to the pictures of the kids on the wall. Should I get quirky and take a picture of a picture to scrapbook? Hee hee. Missed you guys today since class was canceled. Glad to hear you're getting some creative time. Sorry to hear about your dad - layoffs are never fun. Hopefully this will open the door for even better opportunities to come his way. I will definitely keep your parents in my thoughts and prayers.
