One of the most precious commodity for everyone seems to be time. We go about our daily lives and its a blur. We have our usual routines and boy, if there's something that interrupts that routine, we get totally thrown! We are busy mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, co-workers and friends. How does one make time to just relax and create? There are children to be tended to, bills to be paid, laundry to be done, dishes to be loaded into the dishwasher, shopping and cooking. For me, add on a part-time job (that sure seems full time!) and a home business to run. There barely seems to be any time for "me". As women, we seem to put everyone else's needs before ours. If you have keiki (kids) you know what I mean! There's that haircut you wanted to get scheduled in, that massage you had to cancel two months in a row, the clothes shopping you needed to do. So how do I get everything done plus be creative?! Schedule your creative time like an appointment. If you have to get a sitter to have some free time, then do it! If you are at home during the day, take naps when your keiki naps (for some this is impossible, I know!). Or put the keiki down early for the night. Why is creating important, you ask?!
Well, for me it helps me release stress. (much less expensive than a psychologist or therapist appointment -- just kidding!). I find it quite relaxing to sit and just play and not have any real "agenda" on what I'm going to create. Sometimes I want to get a few scrapbook pages completed. Other times I make some birthday cards for friends and family. A handmade card that you send to others is something that is rare today. With email being a predominant way of communicating, I can actually count the number of cards that get sent to me on one hand. So surprise someone today -- send them a handwritten note to say that you're thinking of them.
Emma had her birthday party this past weekend. She had a great time. I'll download photos and post today.
The plan for me today is to clean up the studio (again) and get that photo posted! Right now it looks like there was an explosion! But if you talk to any crafter, stamper or scrapbooker, they'll tell you that it is something that happens quite often!
More later!
