Happy Memorial Day/weekend!

We have out of town family from Hawaii visiting -- Harry's sister Trish, husband Eli and kids Keana (12) and Elijah (2 1/2). We had planned to stay the weekend in Sisters, OR. They arrived this Thursday and after a quick trip to Costco and Joe's (to get Elijah a fishing pole), we were off to Sisters. I rented a 3-bed/2 ba house close to the center of town through another SHS employee. For $375 for 3 nights, not bad. Until I went to pick up the keys and found out that we didn't have cable TV or internet access! I thought Harry was going to die when I told him (of course, I didn't mention it until we got into the house!). But here I am logged onto someone else's wireless connection; so at least we've got one out of two!

Today we went to Hoodoo and hung around at one of the sno parks. Let the kids (and the big kids) play in the snow for a couple of hours; came back and unloaded at Sisters and then headed off to Bend for a bit. We went to the outlet mall and in the midst of a thunderstorm, headed back out to eat at the new Sonic restaurant. Overrated, I think. The food was just OK. This one had the true drive in with the carhop. The kids were tired and cranky so it was not a good thing to be stuck in a car in the middle of a thunderstorm. As quickly as it blew in; it blew out. Heading out of Bend, we spotted a new Trader Joe's (TJ's) and had to stop there. The folks bought most of their omiyagi (gifts for folks back home) and so they are all done! Did a little shopping at the Target there and then headed home.

Harry got home cooked rice and said that he was having his meal of laulau and rice when the rice was ready. Obviously, the Sonic food must have just been pupus (appetizers)!

Anyway, not sure what we'll do tomorrow. Probably walk around downtown Sisters for a bit in the morning for a bit and maybe head into Redmond to check it out. Never really explored central Oregon, so we are having a blast. We'll have to head to Costco before we go home so we can fill up on gas!

Laters!
