Thank goodness it's Friday! It has been such a long week. Work has been busy as well as home life! Tonight I'm going to bring out all of my projects that have been on hold and play all night long until I'm ready to fall asleep!
I have been watching this one TLC program called "Surviving Motherhood". It's on at 3 pm PST (you'll have to check your TV schedules). I wish that this program was on when I first had Emma; boy, it would have been such a lifesaver! When you are away from family it is so hard and you feel so isolated! I have picked up a couple tips from the show and have been trying them out. If you have keiki, then tune in and comment on this blog. Tell me what you think!
Emma can now count up to 14 consistently. Although it's not always cute when she's doing it in church or somewhere where you need her to be quiet. You can almost understand most of what she's saying, although she still throws in her own "language" in sentences. She also sings constantly, which can be cute and sometimes way too annoying (especially when I need to make phone calls). But she is becoming her own little personality and is such a character! She is definitely taking after her daddy.
We are experiencing another heatwave. It's supposed to hit 100+ degrees this weekend. It really isn't pleasant to be outside when it's that hot. Hawaii folks would melt -- it's still hot even without the yucky humidity. It's like being stuck in an oven. So we hung out at home most of today and went to Costco at 5pm. Like that was supposed to be cooler -- even Emma said it was HOT. So if the toddler notices, you KNOW it's way too hot to be outside. So we did just the essential shopping and headed home to air conditioned comfort. There is NO WAY I would ever purchase a house without air conditioning. Now I'm way too spoiled. I don't know how I survived all those years in Hawaii without it!
I am getting ready to design my Christmas cards. Yes, I'm serious and please don't hate me! I need to be this organized or I'd never get it done. I also have to start making prototypes for my craft fair the first week of November. I'll also be adding in some mini scrapbooks for the first time. It will be all decorated and completed so all one has to do is put the photos in! Now to decide what themes to use. I figured I'd try baby, birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I received the preview of the Stampin' UP! Holiday mini catalog today and am so relieved to find that they have lots of Christmas stamp sets in it. I really need some new ones. I also noticed that they have ribbon keepers (holders) and I definitely am going to get those. There are cute Halloween sets and a Thanksgiving set too. They also have new printed scrapbook paper that I just have to have.
Okay, I've joined the ranks of Ebay sellers. I actually have been quite successful in selling my retired sets -- over $100 worth! Yahoo. Now I can buy new sets, right?! There was only one stamp set that didn't sell and one stamp set that sold for the minimum bid price. So I guess you can say that my experience was pretty darn good.
The county fair is in town this weekend. Emma, Sheena and I went yesterday since it was free admission day. We'll also go tomorrow. We get in free since Samaritan Health Services (my work) is one of the sponsors of the fair and in turn receives free admission to all their employees and families. We're going at 11am so that we can beat the heatwave in the afternoon. It's pretty slick, we get free food (hotdogs, hamburgers, picnic fare), all you can eat. Harry misses it every year since he has to work.
We relocated Emma's rocker to her room and I have taken back my room! It's a baby free zone again! I am almost close to getting all of my craft stuff out of her room, now just have to sort through a few stacks of misc paper piles and I can take the folding table out of there and to the garage. I still don't know what I'll do with my scrapbooks yet as I don't think it will all fit in my craft space. But it's a work in progress. I try to do a little at a time whenever I can so that the task isn't so overwhelming. I hope to put a twin bed in Emma's room eventually. With all the paper in our lives, it's like I'm constantly weeding out paper by the truckloads!
Well, off to cook dinner and get Emma into bed! See ya later!
