Are you creating any art?

I have to admit that it has been pretty crazy at my house the past couple of weeks. I did get to stamp a wedding shower card (Congrats again, Elizabeth!) and a birthday card for a toddler's birthday (Happy Birthday, Briah!) but that has been all the creation of art that's been happening here! It is time to schedule some down time after my big foundation board meeting tomorrow! I'm going to desperately need the creative downtime. I've been working non-stop on 2 huge mailings and now I have 2 more coming up. Work never ends; but I'm not complaining! We need the $$ for stamps (uh, ooops, I mean food). Hmm..! Can you tell what's on my mind? What a slip, huh?

I haven't had much time to pour over the new Stampin' UP! catalog either. I have a wish list that I've started but I keep changing my mind as I look at all the cool samples in the catalog. If you want to view the catalog for yourself, you can go to my website and click on online catalog. I have to get more cards loaded on the page too as I have some new designs. Post a comment here and tell me what you think of the new catalog!

Did get to bake some shortbread cookies last Friday. I was dying for a piece and looked at the cookie jar and hmmm...they are all gone already. I baked them up with Splenda and you can't tell the difference. Emma seems to like them, she had two the other day and kept asking for more and said YUMMY. Guess I need to find time to bake more and hide a few pieces somewhere for my cravings.

I am going to try and make it to the farmer's markets this weekend. I haven't been out there in awhile and I just love this time of year when all the fruit appears and is so nice and fresh. I did find a place in the local paper that has a U-pick cherry orchard. I'll have to reevaluate the cherry stash and see how we are. I just bought some at the new Ray's market for 99 cents a pound. Sheena said she is sick of cherries and could care less if she saw anymore of them in our house. Emma LOVES them and before we went to Hood River, couldn't say the word "cherries". Now whenever she spots them in the fridge, she calls out in a LOUD, demanding voice, "CHERRIES"!! I need to get a cherry pitter so I can freeze some and we can have some in the middle of winter. A friend of mine does this and she just takes them from the freezer and eats them frozen. She swears by it.

My attempt to make strawberry freezer jam has not arisen. Unfortunately, the local strawberry season passed me by. However blueberry, raspberry, huckleberry are in season right now. Don't know if I should attempt these as I doubt anyone in my house will eat it. I might try to make some blueberry jam and maybe I can give some jars away at work.

The local county fair is this weekend. The foundation is auctioning off a pair of "chinks" which are similiar to "chaps". Yeah, we are a country town....Anyway, Neal McCoy is in town and he'll be autographing them. I think they will sell for a nice amount. All proceeds are going to our Women's Imaging Center. If you've been reading the papers, the hospital is building a center that will hold an Open MRI, mammography imaging equipment and the works. If you go this Friday to the fair, sponsors will pay $1 each for every person wearing the color "pink". All those proceeds go to the Women's Imaging Center too. So find that pink shirt and make sure the hubby wears one too! The Women's Imaging Center also gives out scholarships to women who cannot afford diagnostic mammography tests so this is such a great way to support the center.

Well, its time to hit the sack. I'm working the evening shift tomorrow night for the board meeting. Half of me likes it since I don't have to get up super early (5AM!) to go to work, but the other half dreads it because that means I won't be home until after 7PM!

Aloha no!
