Don't laugh...I LOVE to Spring clean....it's a sickness, yes I know. Since I've been home all week (with a sick kid) on vacation, I thought I would tackle the master bedroom closet. After a whole day of working on it on Monday, it finally looks decent. The bad part is that I've discovered I don't have much clothes to wear for spring/summer. Ugh. I am so totally postponing clothes shopping as I can't bear to purchase anything in my current size. I don't know how long I can postpone it --- I'm going to have to bite the bullet in the next 2 weeks.
Yesterday I went shopping for a spring coat. I was beginning to look ridiculous wearing my winter coat around. I purchased a gorgeous Jones New York coat for $80 (reg price $140). It has a nice warm lining that is removable when the weather gets even warmer. So it'll do double duty and last me for a couple of seasons at least. Then I scored a new pair of Lifestrides slip on shoes for work for $17 (reg price $40). Hubby was nice enough to take me shopping -- I had to get out of the house before I went nuts. The kidlet ended up with a few things too -- a new toy baton, a nightgown and an Princess umbrella (of all things!). She cons her dad into all sorts of things. I managed to wrangle out of her hands an additional nightgown and a hat that went back to the racks. I almost bought her a new pair of sandals but thought we've got a few more weeks before she can even wear those, so we don't need them now. What I did spring for was those nice plastic things that go over the back of the seats so your kidlet's muddy footprints aren't permanently displayed on your seats. Then I saw this organizer/car seat mat for under the car seat and had to get that too. My van looks like a second toy box. Now to find the time to actually clean and vacuum the inside of the van. Oh by the way, if you are ever in the Salem area you've got to try Maui Grill. We eat there most of the time when we go to Salem. It's close to the airport by Kmart. It's a tiny restaurant but the food is ONO (yummy in Hawaiian). Harry had the mahimahi (fish) and chop steak combo and I had the Iwamoto stir fried noodles. I weighed in at WW in the evening and gained a pound (it was those damned noodles!!). Aaaaaahhh! Must hit the gym this afternoon.
The hubby has a love/hate relationship with his new department. The number one complaint? It's freaking cold -- 30 degrees all day long. You have to remember he is a Hawaiian boy who would give anything to have balmy, humid 88 degree weather. When he gets home he is under a blanket trying to warm himself while he zones in front of the TV. Hopefully he'll adjust as time goes on. He has four female employees and one male employee to supervise this time around so much less than what he's had in the past departments.
Although I was on vacation, I did go back into the office on Wed to just check things out and make sure there were no fires to put out since the 3 of us were out on "vacation". Boss returned yesterday, so things should be OK. I am trying SO hard not to check my email. But of course, I still have work I brought home from last week Friday that I haven't touched yet. Hmmm....
I have a box of goodies waiting for me from Stampin' UP! that I haven't torn open yet. That's next on the list. I posted a bunch of retired stamp sets on Craigslist. I just got a call from a lady down in the Veneta area and she's coming up next week Wed to check out the stash. I only posted a sampling on Craigslist -- I still have a ton more to go. I have to let them go at a deep discount instead of letting them sit here unused. So Spring cleaning is happening everywhere in my house. This afternoon I'll try and make a small dent in the guest room. My sister-in-law and her family will be here for about a week and a half at the end of May so I've got to get my butt in gear and clear out that room. A shopping trip to IKEA is in our future!
But I think I will take an hour or so to play a little today with some of the new products I just received! :) OK, I'm off to play!
