How can it be that it's already the middle of March?! The kid got up yesterday morning and said I have to wear green today. I was quite surprised and then I remembered they must have told her that last week Thursday. It is AMAZING the things kidlets remember. Why can't they remember to wash their hands when they are done using the potty? It's a simple thing.
No corned beef and cabbage for us. I actually FORGOT about it this year. A good excuse to have it on Thursday. Not tonight as I've got a board meeting and it won't end until 7p. The hubby and kid are on their own for dinner tonight.
So I posted earlier that I've joined Weight Watchers again. Lost a pound last week. Weigh in is on Thursday -- I hope I lost more than just that one pound or I'm not eating anything for Easter. Sigh. I tried to be good and went to the gym this morning since I was going to work later in the day. Got in 20 minutes on the bike and thought well, that's 20 minutes of exercise that I wouldn't normally have and I checked the mileage...3 miles. Not bad I suppose. Better than NO exercise. The plan is to try and fit in exercise twice a week and then try for 3 times a week. I'm actually scheduling it in my planner like an appointment so I'm forced to do it.
My best mommy buddy Melissa moved to Portland last weekend. I haven't had a chance to call her or email her yet, but I hope she is doing OK with the transition. Sleepy old Albany and fast paced Portland is a transition, trust me. I hope the weather gets better next week and maybe I'll call her and drive and see her new digs. Gotta remember to call her this week.
Now to the challenge of the week. Okay, I took spring photos of Emma standing next to my daffodils last week. What reminds you of Easter or Springtime? For me it's the blooming flowers and trees. Being from Hawaii, there is nothing more spectacular for me to see "dead" tree branches bloom with flowers. Those cherry and apple trees are unbelievable. I love daffodils and have four different kinds planted in my yard. I also have four different colors of tulips and I am so eager to see those bloom again this year. Think of what reminds you of Spring and Easter, find some photos and scrap it!
By the way, the HAPA concert was a blast. It was so nice to hear those Hawaiian melodies and hear someone sing my native language. And Barry Flanagan is in a class by himself. The boy can play a guitar! When we shouted Hana Hou (which means encore! -- with the Oregonians looking at us wierdly) they came back and played four more songs. That's the funny thing about Hawaii. They don't just play one song and they're done. After the show we got to meet them and talk story for a bit. I found out that Nathan and his purchased land in Volcano of all places.
More later...
