Happy New Year!

The holidays came and went quickly. Christmas was almost stress-free. Still working on it every year and it gets a little better. I'm sure next year will be even better (I hope!). New Year's we spent with our little "ohana" here and it is so strange that I don't even think about the fireworks anymore. Hawaii is known for major celebrations due to the Japanese influence in the islands. We still do some of the same traditions here in Oregon. We have our mochi and a noodle dish (which signify long life). We usually have sashimi but this year I could not find any fresh Ahi anywhere. Not even Costco had it! Very disappointing. But we did make some sushi so not all was lost! Usually we get a phone call or two from Hawaii on New Year's....but this year no calls! We hope they aren't forgetting us poor Hawaiians here in Oregon. Our friends from Arizona did call the next day, which at least made me feel better! LOL!

I have been re-organizing my "art studio" again. Trying to decide what I need and what I don't need is a task in itself. It is so hard for me to "downsize" my stash. I did go through all of my retired rubber stamps and priced them to sell on Ebay. Haven't thought about Craigslist yet but also thought about putting an ad in the local paper as well. I have a ton of them to sell and some of them were barely used. My friend Mary says my stamps are so clean and don't have ink stains on the wood that it looks like I never even used them! I try to keep them reasonably clean, but I don't obsess about it. Rubber stamps are made to be used! I wish that I had more time in my schedule to really make an effort to be organize my stuff. I have decided that I'll just have make an appointment with myself and make it a priority. Sounds silly; but it actually works.

Work has been steady and the black tie event is this weekend. I am always amazed at how quick the time goes by and before you know it it's here. I spent some time over the weekend going through RSVPs and doing the table seating charts. It is funny how people totally ignore the date that they should RSVP by. I have noticed a trend in the past several years that people just don't bother responding and show up expecting a place for them or they just RSVP up to the day of the event! Emily Post would have had a cow...even I come from the old school that if you RSVP really late, that it's just plain rude. I wonder if this is just how things are these days with everyone claiming to be busy. It used to be the busiest people are the ones you wanted to deal with because they knew how to schedule their time. Today, that isn't the case. Okay, enough venting....

Anyway, I haven't posed a topic of the week or challenge of the week in a long time. So here it is!
What makes you go crazy and drives you nuts? You can tell from my entry that the whole RSVP thing drives me over the edge. Let's see...idiodic drivers, moronic people in the grocery line, can top my list. Sometimes it's just the little things. Write a journaling block and then if it's an item you can photograph, take a photo and scrapbook it!

Well, have a great week and I'll check in with you later!

Ooooh, what drives me nuts? A dangerous topic, indeed. Let's see, the RSVP (or lack thereof) totally irks me, too. I hate watching people dig in their teeth with toothpicks, loud cell phone talkers, people that park their shopping carts smack in the middle of the aisle and then glare at you when you're trying to get around them... I seriously could go on and on, but I'll spare ya! Also, I feel for you. You know some doctors think they're God and don't feel the need for a lowly RSVP. I don't know how you work with some of the egos! I'm sure they're not all like that, but something tells me that a few are.
